The Solar Passive Hostel at the University of Jodhpur was completed in 1987. This hostel meant for married students has been designed for a hot dry climate. The main design constraints in this building were the strong desert winds and the scarcity of water to be used for evaporative cooling. The article describes how a wind catcher has been used for providing thermal comfort.
